2012 Kitchen Connection and Hospitality Connection
March 5-8. 2012
These two events held at the same time are designed to bring together camp and conference staff charged with food service and guest relations/marketing. Each Connections event will have it’s own agenda and program, but we will join together for meals and fellowship.
Kitchen Connection Program
- Learn creative ways to hire and train new employees as well as motivating current staff.
- Discuss “kitchen economics.” What does it really take to put a meal on the table? (Please bring an example of a few meals and the costs associated with them).
- Experience a taste of Kansas City on Tuesday evening.
- Wednesday evening we will conduct our version of “Iron Chef” in Grace Hall, our new kitchen/dining facility, complete with a secret ingredient!
- We look forward to sharing recipes as well. Please bring a few of your favorites.
Hospitality Connection Program
- Marketing and Promotion
- Cross-marketing retreats, camps and guest group facilities.
- Growing off-season and midweek use.
- Using social media and the internet to strengthen relationships and grow.
- Reservations and Scheduling processes and policies.
- Working with food service and other departments.
- Guest Relations
- How do you say “Welcome?”
- Extra amenities: Do they cost or do they pay?
- Brian Frick, the Associate for Camp and Conference Ministries, for the Presbyterian Church (USA) will be present to discuss church-wide initiatives.
Lodging
Participants will stay in hotel-type rooms in hotel-type rooms in the Nunemaker Conference Center. Each room has two beds and a private bathroom. Linens/towels are provided.
Transportation
Make plans to arrive by 4:00 p.m. and to depart after 10:00 a.m. The largest airlines serving Kansas City are Frontier and Southwest. Heartland Center will provide airport shuttle at no cost.
